By Engineer Sohn Stark
January 28, 2017

2017 has started out very well for some of our older apparatus. Brush 39, Traffic 39, and Tanker 39 all received a much needed upgrade over the last month, increasing safety for the community and firefighters.

Each vehicle was upgraded with new light emitting diode (LED) emergency warning lights. The LED lights will increase apparatus visibility when responding to emergencies and during fire ground operations. The LEDs are more effective than the previous halogen rotators and draw on average 80% less power. Additionally, LEDs are a cost effective upgrade as they have a much longer service life and will almost never need to be replaced for the life of the vehicle.

This would not be possible without the support of our community and donors! This is one example of how every penny donated helps us keep the community safer.

Special thanks to Code 3 Inc. for their support on Brush 39's light bar, as well as Metropolitan Communications for their support on Traffic 39 and Tanker 39's upgrades.

Units: Brush 39, Traffic 39, Tanker 39

Harrison, TAC-39 and Engine 2 have a mix of old and new lights.
