Ladders and Ventilation

November 11, 2017

Thursday evening for drill night the crews traveled to Caln Twp to an aquired structure that Station 38 has graciously allowed us to use. The crews practiced throwing ladders and roof operations that included cutting ventilation holes with power saws and manually with an axe. It is important to cut ventilation holes to allow smoke and heat to exhuast from the structure where there is fire. This process serves as many functions but most importantly, allows the firefighters to operate in a safer environment while reducing the smoke, increasing visibility and releasing the heat and other toxins to allow personnel to operate to extinguish the fire and possibly look for other hazards and increase the survival rate for someone that may be trapped inside. Thank you Station 38 for allowing us to use your aquired structure.
