February 17, 2018

As you may know the West Bradford Fire Co will be accepting a new Rescue Truck later this year. In the process, we have discovered that the current 5,000 lb. Hurst Rescue System we have on our current Rescue 39 will be obsolete probably within 5 years, that meant at some point before the end of the life of the new Rescue 39, we would need to replace the current Hurst system that we were transferring to the new apparatus. So, we began discussions, looked at and demonstrated a new 10,000 lb. Hurst System that is similar to the current one and mounted on the apparatus, we also looked at the Hurst eDRAULIC. After our Thursday night drill where we had the both systems in station and used them heavily on two vehicles we obtained, the crews met and decided to move forward with the eDRAULIC system. This system will allow us the ability to move freely around any scene that requires the use of a rescue tool, as the eDRAULIC system is portable, battery operated and not tethered to the apparatus by hoses and gas power units, which means they are quieter. These tools are stronger than both apparatus mounted hydraulic powered systems we looked at giving us more cutting and spreading capability, while allowing us to take the tools almost anywhere you can imagine, whether it be off the road way or into a building if the need arises.
