Around 9:45 am Sunday morning, the company was dispatched to Ground Hog College Road in the Newlin Twp section of our district for a report of wires burning on the ground igniting the grass. Chief 39 arrived to confirm the report with a large tree blocking the road. We notified PECO through Chester County 911 and awaited their arrival, once PECO arrived and de-energized the wires we assisted the Newlin Twp Road Dept in clearing the tree so the roadway could be re-opened to allow for general traffic use and emergency vehicle passage if needed. Fire Police closed the roadway to prohibit anyone from the dangers that were present here.

We would like to remind everyone, if there are wires down please consider those wires to be energized and do not cross over them or any object touching the wires or within the area, this morning at this incident we had several bicyclist cross over the tree which was laying on the wires before we arrived, we also had several go around our apparatus in an attempt to continue their ride. Thankfully no one was injured and this situation could have ended tragically. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OVER OR CROSS ANY WIRES, TURN AROUND AND STAY AWAY.

Crews cleared around 11:40 am
