1st due 2nd Alarm House Fire

February 15 - Early in the evening the members of Station 39 and 46 were alerted for a dwelling fire in the area of 1110 Harmony Hill Road. The caller reported flames from the residence and possible subjects still inside. Ambulance 46 was first on location, reporting heavy fire from the porch area, and Deputy 46 arrived reporting a dwelling "well-off". With this report Chief 39 (Buttner) called for RIT and 2 additional tankers on the assignment. Chief and Assistant 39 arrived almost simultaneously and upon additional size-up, called for the second alarm. Engine 46-1 arrived and made the initial attack, getting a good knock on the fire. Search crews advanced as well, and shortly after the primary search came up negative, it was confirmed that the home owners were out to dinner. Due to some supplemental information and detiorating conditions, an evacuation was called for at 1957 hours. All hands evacuated and were accounted for by command within 3 minutes. Exterior operations continued, and the fire was placed "under control" approximately 2115 hours. Extensive overhaul operations continued for about 2 hours, and assist companies were released as their operations were complete. West Bradford would like to thank the assist departments for the tremendous turnout.
