Truck Qualifications

Morning auto accident

September 13- The morning began early for West Bradford members. Just after 7am they were alerted to Romansville Road  for an auto accident. Assistant 39 (G. Fairweather) arrived and confirmed the report of a single vehicle accident. The vehicle had rolled over several times and come to rest on the roadbank. The occupant had fortunately been wearing his seat belt and was not injured. WBFC units secured the vehicle and stood by until the tow company arrived to remove the vehicle and open the road. Units cleared in about 45 minutes.

5 call day for West Bradford

September 12- This afternoon and evening were busy for the members of WBFC. It began in the afternoon with an odor investigation at the Embreeville Center Property, followed by a request from the State Police for traffic control assistance after an auto accident on Rt 322.  Later in the evening, the Company was sent to Bradford Ave. just west of Rt 322 for another auto accident. An hour after returning from that accident, we answered an alarm call on Glenside Road, and handled an oven fire on Jolene Dr.

Night time auto accident

September 06- As crews were wrapping up the storm standby, the tones alerted them to the 1100 block of W. Strasburg Road in East Bradford for an auto accident. Initial reports had one vehicle into the guardrail. Upon arrival Assistant 39 reported that both victims were out of the vehicle, and the fire dept would only be needed for lighting and traffic control. Rescue 39 and Engine 39-3 responded together and took up protective positions at the scene. After EMS evaluated the patients, Station 39 provided traffic control until the towing company removed the vehicle. Units cleared in an hour.

Engine 39-3 runs a line

September 06- Early this afternoon, while on standby for Kennett Fire Company, Engine 39-3 was dispatched to Rosedale Ave in Kennett for a reported mobile home fire.  Engine 39-3 responded with Engine 22 (West Grove). Chief 24 arrived just ahead of the covers and reported nothing showing. Upon further investigation fire was discovered in the roof area. Lines were pulled from Engines 39 and 24 for the investigation.

Afternoon auto accident

September 06- Just after noon, Station 39 was alerted to Bradford Avenue just west of Rt 322 for an auto accident.  With crews already on standby Engine 39-3 made an immediate response with Command 39 and the Chief. On arrival Chief 39 found 2 vehicles head on and 1 patient with minor injuries. On it's arrival Engine 39-3's crew split, securing the vehicles and assisting EMS with the injured patient. Units cleared within an hour.

Storm Standby

September 06- This morning, in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Hanna, an EOC was activated and staffed by fire company members at the Poorhouse Road Station. Members kept a near continuous watch on the news, local weather, and local stream gauges. Fortunately, there were no weather related calls. WBFC members maintained at least 2 full crews on station for the entire 12 hour standby.
