Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember the men and women who served and still serve our country. It is also known for being the start of summer and celebrated by having cook outs. The members of the West Bradford Fire Company were no exception. The members gathered at the substation for a barbeque. The members enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, and lots of fun. The members were also joined by members of the neighboring Downingtown Fire Department.
The members of the West Bradford Fire Company would like to thank its members, township residents, and the men and women all over the country who serve to protect us and our freedom.
Memorial Day Parade

Members of the West Bradford Fire Company gathered at the Marshallton station for the annual Memorial Day parade and service. The parade started at the firehouse and ended at the Bradford cemetery a half -mile down the road. Once at the cemetery there was a short service.

Assist Station 36
May 28, 2010
Station 39 was dispatched for an engine and tanker to assist station 36 and 25 with smoke in a dwelling. The crew from engine 39-3 was given orders to help search for the source of the smoke. The crew from 39 helped discover the source, which was a burned up water pump.

Rural Water Supply Drill
May 27, 2010
Station 39 held their weekly drill on the back side of the Embreeville complex. Crews went over rural water supply operations to help get ready for an upcoming 5 county task force drill in West Chester. Crews went over how to setup the fold-a-tank, tanker placement for dumping water, and setting up to an engine.

Equestrian Accident
May 22, 2010
Station 39 was dispatched with station 55 and medic 91 for an equestrian accident. Chief 39 arrived on scene and requested air medical due to the patient’s injuries. There was also one EMT form station 55 was already on scene as part of a medical standby for the horse show. Crews worked with EMS to help with patient care and set up a landing zone for the helicopter.

Downingtown EMS Open House
May 22, 2010
A crew of 4 headed to the Minquas Fire Company No 2 of Downingtown with Engine 39-3 to take part in their EMS week open house. The engine was set up in the parking lot next to the fire house and the crew let kids walk around and see all the tools and equipment. The kids where even give the chance to sit inside of the truck.

Expo 2010

11 members traveled to the farm show complex in Harrisburg PA to join freighters from all over the state and northeast region at the 2010 firehouse expo. Members enjoyed a day of fun and walked around looking at some of the newest equipment and talking with vendors of all over the country.

West Bradford Day
May 16, 2010
Members of the West Bradford Fire Company took all their trucks to the Broad Run park and participated in the annual West Bradford Day. People were able to see the equipment and ask questions. The members also showed people how to use fire extinguishers and preformed a vehicle rescue demonstration with help from Downingtown Fire Department EMS. The members also setup a grill and cooked hot dogs and cheese burgers for lunch.

Smoke in the Dwelling
May 12, 2010
Station 39 was dispatched to a residence in the 1300 blk of Edgemont in West Bradford for smoke in a dwelling. Engines 39-2 and 39-3 responded as well as Engine and Rescue 38.
Asst 39 arrived to find a little smoke inside of the house. Crews quickly went to work and investigated looking for the cause. After checking around the house the crews found that a kitchen appliance was to blame. The company cleared shortly after. Asst 39 had command

Automobile Accident
May 12, 2010
Station 39 was dispatched with Station 55 for an accident on Wawaset Rd. in West Bradford twp. Rescue 39 and Engine 39-3 responded within minutes of each other. Asst 39 arrived on scene and requested that a medic be added to the incident. The crew worked to secure hazards and EMS transported to an area hospital.

Helicopter Landing
May 9, 2010
Station 39 was dispatch to the baseball field at the West Bradford Township Building for a helicopter landing. Downingtown EMS had requested air medical for an injured person in the township. Engine 39-3 responded and arrived on scene minutes after dispatch. The crew setup and secured an area for Sky Care to land.
Asst. 39A had command and Lt 39 had LZ operations.

Automatic Fire Alarm
May 9, 2010
While crews were operating at the landing zone, the company was dispatched for a 2nd call in the township for a fire alarm. Engine 39-3 responded as well as Engine 39-2. Deputy and Captain 39 arrived first on scene and had everything stage out on the street. Captain 39 checked the house and found that it was a false activation and the company cleared the incident with no services needed.
