Early Morning Accident

February 28 - Just before rush hour Station 39 was dispatched to Northbrook Road south of Rt 162 for an auto accident. Assistant 39 (G. Fairweather) arrived just ahead of Rescue 39 and reported 1 vehicle into a utility pole with a wire down. Rescue 39 arrived secured the vehicle and controlled hazards. Good Fellowship EMS transported the driver to a local hospital for evaluation.

Assist to Honey Brook

February 11 - Today Station 39 members were called to assist our Brothers and Sisters in Honey Brook at a devastating fire. In the early morning hours Stations 33 (Honey Brook) was dispatched to Kern's Hardware for the automatic fire alarm. Deputy 33 responded and immediately upgraded the assignment to a working fire. Station 39 units were able to assist with 3 assignments: Tanker 39 relocated to Station 33, Utility 39 assisted 33 EMS with the rehab gear, and Traffic 39 and 39-32 (J. Arnold) assisted with traffic control. Utility 39 cleared the scene after about 8 hours, Traffic 39 after about 5 hours, and Tanker 39 is currently on location (2300 hrs). Good luck to the Kerns on the recovery effort, and to Station 33 members as they work over the next few days as they mop up.

Assist to Thorndale

February 9 - Just before lunch the members of Station 39 were dispatched to assist Station 38 (Thorndale) on a house fire. Units were requested to assist on the Tanker Task Force alarm, as the recent cold snap had frozen to local hydrants. Engine 39-3 and Tanker 39 responded on the Task Force assignment, and Utility 39 responded with the rehab gear. Units cleared after 2 1/2 hours.

Evening MVA

February 8 - Just as the members were preparing for apparatus checks and clean up of the Poorhouse Road Station, the company was alerted to Poorhouse Road in the area of the Old Downingtown Water Works for an MVA. Rescue 39 responded, and arrived to find a property damage accident. The crew from the Rescue checked for hazards and turned to scene over to the State Police upon their arrival.

Afternoon stove fire

February 8 - During the afternoon rush hour Stations 39 and 51 were dispatched to the 400 block of Wawaset Rd for a reported house fire. Chief 39 arrived first on location, reporting a stove top fire with minimal extent ion to the range hood overhead. Rescue and Engine 39-2 arrived together, and the crews extinguished the fire with the water can. The crew from Engine 51-1 arrived next and assisted with removing the oven and hood and ventilation. Crews from Engine 39-3 and 51-2 stood by. Ambulance 55 evaluated one patient for a hand burn. Units cleared after about an hour.

Rush hour MVA & Investigation

February 5 - The first full week of February got off to a busy start for the members of Station 39. Just after 5pm the members were alerted to the intersection of Rt 162 (Strasburg Rd) and Telegraph Rd for an auto accident. Upon arrival Rescue 39 reported 2 vehicles, one on it's side and one over the guardrail. Further investigation reveled no injuries. The ambulance crew obtained sign offs, and the crew from Rescue 39 and Engine 39-3 provided hazard control and cleanup. Units cleared after about 1 hour.

Less than 10 minutes after returning from the MVA, Station 39 was alerted to the 1200 Block of Delaware Ave, in Brandywine Green, for an oven fire. Upon the response of Engine 39-3, CCFR advised that the homeowner called back and reported that the fire had been extinguished. The assignment continued to investigate, and eventually confirmed the report and returned.
