Water emergency in Tattersal
January 27 - As the members were completing some work at the Poorhouse Road station, CCFB notified Chief 39 of the report of water coming from a residence in the Tattersal development. Chief 39 responded and found water coming from a the garage of a 2 story single family residence. Rescue 39 responded on it's way back to Marshallton to assist. As the crew from 39 looked for a way to access the residence, the homeowners arrived. The crew was able to secure the water service to the house, and fortunately, there was minimal damage to the house. Units on location: Command 39 (Buttner), Rescue 39
Minor fire at Goddard School January 26 - Just before the lunch hour the Station was alerted to the Goddard School in Marshallton for the report of an electrical fire inside. FM 50 (J. Lucas) arrived on location to find and electrical outlet that overloaded and shorted out. Crews checked the rest of the building and found no extention. The assignment returned in just under an hour.
Gifts to our Brothers January 15 & 17 - To celebrate the recent arrivals of Utility 39, Squad 51 and Squad 52, the members of the 39 House decided to present early housing gifts to the Westies and the Will. Chief Buttner, President M. Groover and Secretary C. Groover attended the drill nights of each Company to deliver the gifts. Another pair of Auto Accidents January 15 - Monday brought another pair of auto accidents for Station 39. Just before lunch, the members were dispatched to the area of Poorhouse and Broad Run for a report of a single vehicle off the roadway. On arrival no patients were found and the scene was turned over to the State Police. Later in the afternoon, the station was dispatched to Glenside and Marshalton-Thorndale Roads for a 2 vehicle accident. On arrival the vehicles were secured and traffic controlled. Units cleared after about an hour. Units on location for both accidents: Engine 39-3, Command 39 (Buttner), Traffic 39, Ambulance 46 ( Glenside Rd) Afternoon auto accident January 14 - Early in a rainy afternoon in West Bradford the Station was dispatched to Marshallton- Thorndale Road in the area of the United Sports Training Center for an auto accident with wires down. CCFR advised Chief 39 (Buttner) that there was a report of one vehicle into a pole with no injuries, but wires down. On arrival the Chief confirmed the report and requested Fire Police to close the roadway. The vehicle was removed and the scene turned over to PECO Energy on their arrival. Units were on location approximately 1 hr. Units on location: Engine 39-3, Tac 39, Utility 39, Traffic 39, Command 39, Deputy 39 (J. Fairweather) and Assistant 39-A (G. Fariweather), Traffic 38, Early morning "house" fire January 13 - Around 7 am Saturday morning the 39 House, along with Station 46 (Minquas), was alerted to to 1100 block of New Hampshire Dr for the house fire. Initial reports to responding apparatus was smoke in the residence with the residents evacuating. Engine 46-1 arrived with Command 39 and reported nothing showing. A quick check of the residence revealed a small fire in the bathroom, which was extinguished prior to Fire Company arrival. Chester County Fire Marshals were called to determine the cause, which was a malfunction in a heater. Units cleared after about an hour. Overturned Dump Truck w/entrapment January 10- Early in the afternoon Station 39 and Ambulance 46 were dispatched to the intersection of Rt 322 and Shadyside Roads for an auto accident. As numerous reports came in to Chester County Fire Radio, the call was upgraded to an accident with entrapment. FM-50 (J. Lucas) arrived first on the scene and reported a tri-axle dump truck on its side with a further report to follow. After further assessment the driver of the truck was determined to be trapped. After an extensive extrication, and some assistance from Station 53 (Fame of West Chester) and Station 46 (Minquas) the driver was extricated and flown to a local trauma center. Units cleared after about 3 hours. Special thanks to the extra fire police that assisted with the closure of Rt. 322 Units on location: Deputy 39 (J. Rush Hour Auto Accident January 4 - During Thursday's morning rush the Company was dispatched to the intersection of Marshalton-Thorndale and Hall Roads for an auto accident. Assistant 39 (Allison) arrived first and reported a 2 vehicle MVA with one vehicle off the roadway. After initial patient assessment, it was determined that fire department services were not required and Rescue 39 and Engine 39-3 were returned on arrival. Traffic 39 remained to control traffic until the vehicles were cleared. GFAC ambulance transported one subject to a local hospital for evaluation. Units on the alarm: Rescue 39, Engine 39-3, Traffic 39, Command 39 (Buttner) Assistant 39 (Allison) Assistant 39A (G. Fairweather), 55 Ambulance Accident with Entrapment January 1 - While Engine 39-3 was transferred to Station 49, the County Fire Radio dispatched Station 39's second call to the area of 1211 Marshalton-Thorndale for an accident with entrapment. This call prompted Station 49 to release Engine 3, which responded immediately. Upon arrival of Asst 39-A (G. Fairweather) entrapment was confirmed and due to concerns about staffing, Rescue 38 was dispatched to assist. Engine 39-3 arrived soon after Asst-A and went to work with the tools. Rescue 39 arrived with Engine 39-1 and both crews went to work with additional stabilization and staging. Rescue 38 then arrived to assist with the final tool work. 1 patient was removed from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center. Engine Transfer to the 49 House January 1 - West Bradford's first call of the New Year was to transfer one engine to the East Brandywine Fire Company while the brothers from Station 49 were assisting Glenmore Fire Company (Station 48) on a house fire. Engine 39-3's crew was realease as the County Fire Board was dispatching Station 39 for the accident with entrapment on Marshalton-Thorndale Road.
