A Pair of Relocates!

July 1 & 2 - The members of the 39 House had a relatively quiet weekend compared to the events of the last week or so. Saturday night, the House was alerted to transfer an Engine to Station 41 (Washies), while the City worked a multiple alarm fire at Gordon Middle School. Engine 39-1 responded under the command of Lt 39-B (Jean Solecki) and returned just in time to take a wires call on Rt. 322. On Sunday morning, the members were requested to transfer an Engine to the 37 House (Modena) while they were assisting on a 2 Alarm fire at Station 43 (West End), Engine 39-1 again responded under Lt. B's command and returned after about 3 hours.

The thoughts and prayers of the members of the 39 House go out to our brothers in the City, as they recover from the fire in their station, and the injury of several of the brothers while battling the blaze.

Good Neighbor Day

July 4 - The West Bradford Fire Company participated in the annual Good Neighbor Day tradition in Downingtown. Various members of the Company participated covering EMS assignments for the races and providing all around support for the event, which was limited due to some violent thunderstorms in the afternoon. That night Station 39 along with ladder 49 covered Downingtown Borough during the fireworks festivities at Home Depot, running a barbeque fire. Following what seems to be any event this year. The rains came as soon as the fire works ended.

Another busy night!!

July 18- After a brutal heat wave that held the Mid-Atlantic States well into the 90's, the region received some relief from the heat thanks to a line of severe thunderstorms on Tuesday night. The downside of the storms was another wild night of calls. Approximately 20 members of the 39 House chased over 15 calls in a 6 hour period. Chief 39 released the last of the crews just after midnight. GOOD JOB EVERYONE

Township wide assist

July 19 - West Bradford Township and the 39 House teamed up to assist to residents of the Township by delivering dry ice to those residents without power this evening. With the help of a Reverse 911 message broadcast by the County Radio Room, and some good old-fashioned route alert style canvassing of the Township, the members and the township distributed 2,100 lbs of dry ice. Great job to all involved.

Units on the assignment: Brush 39, Engine 39-1, Engine 39-3, Rescue 39, Township truck #6

Water Rescue

July 28 - Late afternoon the members were alerted to Brandywine Dr in the area of Warpath Ln. for a water rescue. Initial reports stated that someone canoeing down the Brandywine River had become entrapped by a fallen tree. First on location was Safety 39 (M. Groover) and with some assistance from passersby located the patient, still in the river. The patient was being supported in the river by a member of his family. An initial assessment provided criteria for a helicopter flight, and Sky Care was alerted to the scene. Rescue 39 was next to arrive and prepared to extricate the patient from the river. With the assistance of personnel from Good Fellowship EMS the patient was loaded into a stokes basket and removed from the river. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital. Assistant 39 (G. Allison) had the command and Assistant 39A (G. Fairweather) had the LZO.
