Special Events

December 25 - Early Christmas morning several members of West Bradford prepared dinner for our law enforcement brothers of the State Police. Dinner was delivered by a convoy of West Bradford apparatus, and a special guest who had just finished a long night of travel. Special thanks Christie Groover for coordinating the cooking and the delivery.

December 16, 2006 - The member gathered in the early morning hours to assist Santa Claus with his yearly visit to the West Bradford Fire Company response district. Everyone had a great time with Santa, and a wonderful lunch provided by Mrs. Bebe (aka Florence Buttner). Pictures are above.

December 9, 2006 - The members spent the morning at the Marshalton Station with the children of the area during the annual "Breakfast with Santa" Event. Attendance was excellent and everyone had a wonderful time.

Later in the day, several members attended the Downingtown "Good Neighbor" Christmas Parade. Rescue 39 attended with a special guest " The Grinch" riding behind in Boat 39. Rescue/Boat 39 won best decorated fire apparatus, and a special escort through the parade.

October 14 - After several days of preparation 8 members of Station 39 attended the West End Fire Company of Phoenixville's 100th Anniversary celebration. Taken to the parade were Rescue 39, Boat 39, and Engine 39-3. Under the command of Lt. 39C ( J.T. Solecki) the units left early to get a good spot in the judging line. Proving once again that hard work pays off, Rescue 39 took first place in the Light Rescue Category. Special thanks to all who assisted in the clean up of both trucks and the boat!

October 9 - West Bradford Fire Company hosted 2 Open House sessions today. The township turned out in incredible amounts. Over 700 people turned out for the day. Special thanks go out to the West Bradford Township Fire Marshal, Jim Lucas, and Lt. Gary Cooper who organized and conducted both sessions, and all the members who turned out to support the cause. Additional thanks go out to The Home Depot for supplying part of the props for the day, and to SkyFlight Care Aeromedical service for attending both sessions. Keep a watch out for future open house presentations.

2006 Chili Cook-Off

COctober 8 - Several members of the "39 House" participated in the 4th annual West Chester Chili Cook off. Liz Fairweather and Christie Groover were the "head chefs" for the day with Garry Fairweather, Mike Groover, TJ Fairweather and Jenn Dilworth assisting. Due to some fortunate positioning, we were able to share the day with our Brothers and sisters from the Goodwill Fire Company (Station 52). Also special thanks to Carmen and Pat Semenza for their assistance on Saturday night with the prep work. All had a great time and we'll be back next year!!

Romig Road Victory Run

September 23 - Several members of Station 39 participated with the Romig Road Victory Run for charity. Fire Police controled traffic and the crew of Rescue 39 escorted a very special guest. For pictures click here!

Training Events!!

August 24 - Our regular training night was enhanced by a visit from CCDES Instructor and Arlington VA Firefighter Jeff Kramer. Jeff was on hand to review firefighter survival techniques with the members. Jeff reviewed "bail out" procedures, then some of the members practiced by going out the 2nd floor of Embreeville Center. Great Job to all!!

June 06 - During the month of June 10 members of Station 39 participated in Emergency Responder training, put on at the firehouse by EMS Education Inc. The members attended 8 weeknights and 3 Saturdays of training, and though there were some pitfalls, everyone enjoyed the class and seemed to have alot of fun.

August 22- The members of Station 39 wish to congratulate our newest EMTs! Elizabeth and Steven Fairweather both graduated the Chester County Department of Emergency Services EMT "POWER" Class. Both Liz and Steven completed the accellerated course in just over 6 weeks. Great Job!!

Boot Day #2

June 17 - Some of the members of the 39 House gave up a portion of the Father's Day holiday to work on our latest fundraising effort. The members collected donations from the traffic crossing through the Marshallton-Thorndale Rd / Poorhouse Rd intersection. Thank you to all who helped, and most importantly those who donated.

West Bradford assissts the U.S. NAVY!

June 10- Station 39 assisted the United States Navy Recruiting Office with some recruit training. Since everyone who is station on a ship can potentially be a firefighter, the Navy requires their recruits to have some exposure to fire supression appliances and SCBA. The recruits spent about 2 hours getting familiar with the equipment and learning some techniques. Special thanks to Assistant Chief Allison, and firefighters B. Allison and C. Carrerro for helping with the event.

Station 39 members visit the Daisy's

March 20 - Lieutenants Gary Cooper, Jean Solecki and Joe Crawford, along with firefighters Potter and Sadowski paid a visit to the local Daisy troop that meets at West Bradford Elementary. The kids received a talk about fire safety, and a tour of Engine 3 and the Tac. West Bradford Fire Company has an extensive fire safety presentation, which can be put on for your group at it's meeting place or at either of our Firehouses. Fill the Boot Day

CMarch 18 - West Bradford Volunteers worked our first "fill the boot" day of 2006. This was actually the second scheduled day, but last week's effort was canceled due to rain. Thanks to all those that came out on both weekends and to everyone who donated to the fund!

Station 39 gets some international visitors!

March 16 - While attending training at the Chester County Department of Emergency Services, 5 visitors from the Republic of Iceland requested to see an American firehouse. The members of West Bradford were happy to oblige! From Icelandic National Police: Inspector Sveinn Guoni and Inspector Oskar Gunnar Oskarsson. From the Emergency Alert 112 Center Staff: Kristjan Hoffman, Quality Assurance Manager, Eirikur Ronald Josefsson, Training Supervisor and from The Reykjavik Fire Brigade Chief Gudmundurth Jonsson, Division Chief. The Crew spent about an hour looking over the equipment and learning about West Bradford.

December 17 Santa arrived in West Bradford Township today for a pre-Christmas visit.

December 10 Members of the station participated in the annual "Breakfast with Santa" at the Main Station in Marshallton. The event was well attended and Santa collected a lot of last minute requests from the children of the township.
