Its that time of the year to 'spring ahead' for Spring! Tonight, daylight savings time begins as the clocks will jump forward one hour. As you adjust the clocks in your household and business, remember to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are the first line of defense in the event of a fire. Every second counts! Be sure to give you, your family, your co-workers, etc. the advantage over the smoke and flames.

In 2011, the U.S. Fire Administration reported 3,005 deaths related to house fires. Of these, 25% had smoke detectors installed in their household that failed to operate. "Smoke alarm failures usually result from missing, disconnected, or dead batteries" ( Smoke Alarms in U.S. House Fires ). Having a properly working smoke/CO detector in your household can reduce your risk of death by half!
