On Sunday, April 9, 2017 at approximately 4:45pm Station 39 was dispatched in the area of Bradford Ave for a woods fire, upon the arrival of Chief 39 and Engine 39-3, they quickly found a one acre woods fire approximately 300 ft off the roadway up a very steep embankment. While Chief 39 and Lieutenant 39-B accessed the fire up the hill, additional crews from Engine 39-2, Brush 39 and Tac 39 arrived to begin the difficult task of stretching a hose line to the fire, while crews began extinguishing the fire, Chief 39 searched the area for access to bring a Brush Truck into the scene, which due to the terrain was unsuccessful. The crews used 400 ft of hand line and various hand tools to extinguish the fire. The Fire Police on scene closed the roadway to keep the crews safe from passing motorists while operating on the steep embankment.
