Members of the West Bradford Fire Company participated in rescue operations training using the new Ramsey 20,000 pound hydraulic winch on Rescue 39 at Miller's Auto Service Center in Downingtown, PA. The awareness level training was conducted on Thursday night 10/24/19 as part of our regular drill night and today, the operations level training was provided by
Patrick Grubb of ESI Equipment Inc. of Montgomeryville, PA. ESI Equipment Inc. has been a leader in the rescue industry for more than 30 years. They have extensive knowledge and experience in the area of fire/rescue/EMS and are a leading distributor of Holmatro Rescue T ools in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This course of instruction was focused on our company's capabilities using the winch and the support hooks, chains, shackles, lifting straps and the dynamometer ( a device which measures the force being exerted on the cable and winch to move the object or vehicle) that are carried on Rescue 39 .
Mr Grubb was impressed by the company's thought, planning and design in acquiring the Ramsey hydraulic winch with 200 ft. of 9/16" steel cable installed on Rescue 39. Mr. Grubb indicated that with this training the company will be successful at not only incident stabilization, but when necessary be able to move or separate almost any size car, truck, van or commercial vehicle enough to allow for rapid extraction of trapped victims. See attached photos.
