Media Advisory – For Immediate Release

Pennsylvania State Police Troop J, Embreeville “National Seat Check Saturday”

Embreeville – The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J Embreeville, will conduct a car seat check on Saturday, September 20th from 9:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. at the West Bradford Fire Company substation, Marshalton Thorndale Road and Poorhouse Road, West Bradford Township, Chester County. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be checking car seats for proper installation and advise parents and caregivers how to choose the right car seats and install them properly in their vehicles. The event is part of the National Child Passenger Safety Week and is free to the public. Appointments are required by calling 610-486-6181. Point of contact is Trooper Waleska GONZALEZ.

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading killer of children ages 1 to 13. Using age- and size-appropriate child restraints is the best way to reduce these deaths. In 2012, over one-third of child passengers killed in car crashes weren’t in car seats, booster seats, or wearing seat belts. Those kids could have survived if they had been buckled up.

State Police also wish to remind parents that anyone who transports a child under four years of age anywhere in the motor vehicle must fasten the child securely in an approved child safety seat. Children four years of age or older but under eight years of age must be secured with both the vehicle’s safety seat belt system and an appropriately fitting child booster seat.
