| The Company was dispatched to the 1100 block of Yankee Drive for a truck leaking fuel. Upon responding, County Radio advised a fuel oil truck was leaking an unknown amount of fuel oil. On arrival, the leak had stopped, and an estimated 50-80 gallons of home heating oil had spilled on a residential driveway and the street.
The crew of engine 39-1, assisted by rescue 38, applied absorbents. Deputy Chief 39 (Fairweather) assumed Yankee Drive command, and instructed utility 39 to respond with additional absorbent, absorbent pads and barricades. Command requested notifications to PA DEP and the Chief of the County HazMat, and confirmed that the responsible party had a clean-up contractor enroute.
Upon the arrival of a representative of the clean-up contractor, and a briefing of the actions taken, the incident was turned over, the fire company barricaded the area, and cleared the scene. |
