| The West Bradford Volunteers are pleased to announce the delivery of brand new 2014 Scott Air Packs.
Through persistence and dedication, the Fire Company secured a FEMA grant tailored to replacing old Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The $156,750 grant greatly benefits the community of West Bradford by replacing the aged Survivair systems that the company has relied on for over a decade. Air packs are a critical tool in firefighting; they allow firefighters to breathe and see in deadly conditions.
The new delivery consists of 30 air packs, 60 breathing cylinders, and 45 masks totaling $184,868. The difference in cost was picked up by the West Bradford Firefighter's Relief Association, an association whose specific mission is the safety of the members.
The Scott Air Pack system is a rugged and proven design that is used by many companies, both paid and volunteer, throughout the United States. Representatives from Scott recently visited the company to instruct the Volunteers how to properly operate the new systems. Members were 'fit-tested' for different mask sizes to determine a perfect fit as well as briefed on the safety systems that are integrated into the packs. The company plans to have these new packs in service as soon as possible. |
