Tonight as the crews were finishing Thanksgiving dinner with their families, the company was alerted to Lucky Hill Road in East Bradford Twp for an Automatic Fire Alarm. Upon arrival of Chief Law, he noticed an interior smoke condition and was met by a WCPD officer advising of smoke inside due to a malfunctioning fireplace. Upon arrival of Engines 39-3, 39-1 and Rescue 39, the crews laddered the 3 story farmhouse and began to clean out the fireplace and inspect the chimneys. After investigation it was found that the chimney dampers had malfunctioned and not been open completely, not permitting the smoke to "draft" up the chimney. The roof crew opened the dampers, while the interior crew set up a ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the dwelling. The crews provided the homeowner with relief that the situation was a malfunctioning damper and advised the homeowner to have the flues and dampers checked and repaired.
