Accidents o' Plenty
May has seemed to be accident month in the township. From minor accidents with no injuries, to severe accidents with rollovers, the members have kept their skills honed. West Bradford members would like to remind members and visitors to the Township to abide by the speed limits and use care when driving on unfamiliar roads, we'd like to meet all of our residents, but not by accident!
39 House assists on a Working Barn Fire
May 21- As the members were preparing to participate in the West Bradford Day festivities, they were alerted to assist Station 36 on the barn fire in Newlin Township. Assistant 39A (G. Fairweather) was first on the scene and reported a barn well off. Engine 36 followed shortly after and dropped LDH from the street to the building. Asst. Fairweather turned over command to Captain 36 and assumed the "water supply" office. Engine 39-3 arrived and fed Engine 36, while Tankers from Stations 39, 36, 23, 24 and 25 responded. Engine 36 got a quick knock on the fire and the assignment was held to the 2 engines and tankers from 39, 23, and Engine 25-2. 36 Command was quick to release Station 39 so we could attend our event. Thanks to the members from Stations 51 and 49 who covered while we were out of district.

Station 39 works on the 5 Alarm Job
In the early morning hours the 39 House was alerted to assist the Downingtown Fire Department with a structure fire at Dane Decor, a furniture store adjacent to Station 46 (Minquas). Station 39 was alerted on parts of the 2nd and 3rd alarms. Due to a low water pressure condition Chief 39 (Buttner) was designated as Tanker Supply Officer, and worked to assure a backup with the Tanker Task Force called by command. Engine 39-1 worked to obtain a draft from a local pond, and after securing water stood by in case of the worst. Fortunately the tankers were not required, and units were released as they freed from their assignments. Crews from 39 also saw interior work, and assisted with clean up. Thanks to the guys from the 24 House who covered the district while we were out.
