House Struck by Lightning

The West Bradford Fire Company was dispatched just after 6pm for a house struck by lighting on the 100 block Youngs Road in Newlin Township.
Chief 39 arrived on scene and requested the first in engine in front of the structure and all other units hold on the hard road. Tac and Utility 39 were first on scene followed by engine 37-2 who took the position in the driveway. The crews set up a ladder to the roof and checked for any hot spots along the edge where the lighting had struck the residence. They also used a thermal imaging camera to check the interior of the residence.
The lighting struck the weather vane at the peak of the roof, and then followed a wire along the roof edge before entering a wall in the second floor apartment. Fortunately damage was minimal.
All units cleared around 7pm.

Car Show

The West Bradford Fire Company held it's 2nd annual car show at our substation. The day was a big success and lot a of fun for everyone. There were all kinds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even a race car on display for the day. The fire company had lots of great food for sale as well. Towards the end of the day, the Fire Chief, Fire Company President, West Bradford Township Manager, and a PA State Trooper handed out the awards for the winning cars. After sunset everyone enjoyed fireworks across the street at the United Sports Training Center.

Downingtown Good Neighbor Day

The West Bradford Fire Company assisted Downingtown with the annual good neighbor day. The company started the day at 7AM with the annual 5k, 10k, and 15k run for life and the 5k freedom run. The company then set up crews at 10:30AM at Route 322 and Sugars Bridge Rd and also at Route 162 and Creek Rd for the annual canoe race. In the afternoon, the company sent a crew with engine 39-3 to cover calls for the Downingtown fire department while they performed their annual accident demo. The day finally came to an end with a fireworks show.
Standby at Station 49
July 4, 2010
ust after 6PM the company was dispatched for an engine to relocate to the East Brandywine Fire Company, station 49, while their crews where busy assisting on a house fire in Glenmoore. The crew of engine 39-3 stayed at station 49 and enjoyed both the nice weather and a few video games. The crew helped to clean and repack hose before heading back home just after 1AM.
